Media in my life
How volunteering in my community inspired my career
Throughout my high school and college career, I dedicated my time to many organizations to help my county. I enjoyed making new friends, networking, and seeing the positive change our handwork would bring to our community. However, I had no idea how much this would affect my path in the future.
Working with all of these different organizations has inspired me to choose a career path where I can positively impact the area I live in. I chose mass communications as my major at the University of South Florida because I know how important the media is when it comes to direct change.
As a show editor and reporter for Florida Focus, I spent countless hours filming, interviewing, editing, and airing solutions-based broadcasts. One of my favorite stories I aired was about a non-profit organization called the HEAT Factory dedicated to helping veterans with PTSD. I have also helped create a broadcast to help fight illiteracy in children across the United States.
The more outreach and education you can provide to people increases the chances of a larger, more positive world. Working in the media can help provide that knowledge and change!
